Upcoming Discernment Events
Ready to take a next step? Why not spend some time with us and with others who are exploring life in Mercy by taking part in one of these upcoming discernment events. Whether for a local overnight or an intensive week-long experience, these events are great introductions to the Mercy Community and to the many ways available for becoming a part of it.
Mercy Challenge: Experience Mercy Life For a Week
What is Mercy Challenge? It is week spent visiting and participating in the ministry and life of one of the Sisters of Mercy Communities. As many as nine young women join several justice representatives, vocation ministers and New Membership Office representative as they move from service agencies and schools to outreach centers and homeless shelters to experience, first-hand, the functions, routines and special challenges of each ministry. The days of a Mercy Challenge week are full. The evenings are given to reflection and analysis, but there is no lack of laughter and joy of time together. Deep sharing and new friendships are formed. For some, a new way of looking at the life of the Sisters of Mercy is recognized. What they will choose to do next is up to each participant. But all depart with an understanding and appreciation for the work of Mercy and joy at the goodness of God's love. (read more...)

Prayer for Vocation to Mercy
Gracious God, in every generation you call women and men to carry on your gospel message by dedicating their lives in service to you and to others. May your loving Spirit especially enlighten women to discern religious life as a Sister of Mercy and to respond to your invitation in the spirit and legacy of Catherine McAuley. Inspire and gift us with new Sisters, Associates, Companions in Mercy, Mercy Volunteer Corp members, and co-workers to contribute to the life, beauty and harmony of our world by their service to the poor, sick and uneducated. Empower us to be enthusiastic and welcoming ministers, so that together we may bring Mercy to the world. In our quest for you, O God of Mercy, may you open our hearts to your desires for us today and always. Amen.
